It’s perfectly natural for artists to take inspiration from other artists. After all, art is born from art. While for the many others who are content just admiring photos and designs on digital platforms, these things are an eye candy and can add pizzazz to a relatively uninteresting IG feed that’s peppered with nothing more than photo diaries (i.e. selfies) from the friends and family they follow.
There are a whole lot of follow-worthy artists in Instagram — that’s for sure. So to ease up the search for you, we’ve created our own list of interesting and nothing short of awe-inspiring IG accounts that will surely tickle the artist in you.
Here they are:
1.Timothy Goodman

This NY-based designer, art director, illustrator, and content creator is a mighty ball of inspiration with a myriad of artistic skills that’s evident on his Instagram feed (@timothygoodman). He has recently produced a book with Jessica Walsh on top of a fresh collaboration with Target, and many other inspiring projects to boot.
2.Steven Harrington

Just one look at Steven Harrington’s Instagram feed (@s_harrington) reminds us so much of candy and all things sweet! This California-based artist can rock bold lines and child-like pops of color to a tee — your feed will never be boring if you’ve got him on your follow list!
3.Luke Choice

This NY-based Aussie has so much visual taste to offer his followers, with a signature quirky and out-of-the-box style expressed through different elements of design, typography, and illustration. His Instagram feed (@velvetspectrum) is bursting with color and creativity. His portfolio includes a mix of independent projects and collaborations with big brands like Nike.
4.Ornamental Conifer

Nicolai Sclater, typographer and designer, makes his Instagram page (@ornamentalconifer) a cut above the rest with kickass surface typography that will surely catch every artistic eye. His brilliant use of shapes and lines, coated in inviting pops of color makes his page a true gold mine.
5.Dschwen LLC.

Dschwen LLC is a group of artists and designers who are passionate about creating colorful, quirky, and meaningful works that are neatly showcased on their Instagram account (@dschwen). Followers may indulge in their fun and engaging animations and other awe-inspiring projects. Dschwen LLC is headed by David Schwen, hence their group’s name.
6.Rylsee

We see a lot of typographers kicking ass with their hand-written works and projects, but nothing quite like the fresh and unique style of Rylsee. This artist from Berlin/Geneva/Vancouver adds an exciting twist to his handmade typography through the distortion and manipulation of perspective and dimension. Check out his page (@rylsee) and you’ll see what this rave is all about!
7.Erik Marinovich

This co-creator of FriendsofType and co-founder of TitleCase.co, on top of commissioning work for bigwigs like Google, Target, Nike, and Facebook still has time to take some of his amazing works to social media (@erikmarinovich). His current project, “Hip Hop Hullaballoo” is an engaging typographical work that will surely get you turning that white button to green.
8.Joshua Noom

Joshua Noom, a designer-slash-illustrator from Florida, tastefully melds the concept of bold illustration and hand-crafted typography in his works. There’s usually nothing too flashy about his creations, but they’re also very engaging and uniquely effective. Check out his IG page (@joshuanoom) and see for yourself!
9.Nicholas Moegly

If crisp, sophisticated, and lovely hand-crafted lettering is your cup of tea, Nicholas Moegly’s Instagram (@nicholasmoegly) will no doubt be your handy treasure trove. His work is smooth and beautifully flawless, but still matching any style or theme — be it Victorian, modern, laid-back… you name it!
10.Jessica Walsh

Sagmeister & Walsh? Ring any bell? No? Well, Jessica Walsh is co-head of the designing team behind many branding, digital commercials, books, typography, installations and many other art forms. She’s currently one of the most respected names in the area of design and if you follow her Instagram account – @jessicawalsh, it shouldn’t be too difficult to see why.
