Genevieve Godbout is a freelance Illustrator from Quebec. She studied traditional animation at the Cégep du Vieux-Montréal followed by another degree at the prestigious school of Gobelins in Paris. She moved to London where she currently works at Disney Consumer Products and moonlights as a book illustrator and fabric designer. Her vintage-inspired illustrations are imbued with a nostalgia for childhood, and are created in traditional mediums such as pastels and colored pencils.
Her clients include The Walt Disney Company, Chronicle Books, Tundra Books, Random House, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, les éditions Milan, Comme des Géants and La Pastèque.
She has illustrated many children’s books including Johnny Appleseed – selected at the Society of Illustrators Original Art 2017 Exhibit, Bad hair – Finalist for th e 2015 Quebec Booksellers’ Prize – 0-5 years category, Pink with peas – Finalist for the Prix Libr’à nous in the selection Albums Jeunesse (4-12 years) and When Santa Was a Baby – Winner of the 2017 Jeunesse des Libraires du Québec Award (0-5 years old)
We are charmed by her collection and we’re impressed with her work. Genevieve has lots of amazing creations but we have decided to showcase her children book illustration When Santa was a Baby by Linda Bailey (Tundra Books , Canada, 2015)
