Simon Silaidis is a greek artist who specialises in calligraphy using special brushes and black paint. Calligraphy is both image and text. Considered by some the highest form of art, the way of taking one character and how it can be brushed seems limitless.
Simon is the man behind Urban Calligraphy. Urban Calligraphy is calligraphy under rural, urban and suburban surroundings, it is unique calligraphy that escapes from the ink in to the paper and the boring surroundings of a calligraphy lab and exposes itself in public places, abandoned buildings, the streets and all sorts of surfaces, using materials nobody would think they could be used.
Amongst his clients includes the worldâ s best known designer Philippe Starck. He was asked to decorate with his calligraphy one of his most innovative buildings; Le Nuage (The cloud) ) a unique building with an inflatable membrane at Montpellier, France and also the Adam Opel Calligraphy Campaign that Simon turns the new genration Opel Corsa into a âbrushâ and with the help of a stunt driver transforms the desert into a big Art Canvas.
We are charmed by his collection and we’re impressed with his work. Simon has lots of amazing creations but we have decided to showcase his Enigma calligraphy designs. It all depends on âYouâ to put the pieces of the puzzle together in order to see the âbig pictureâ. And when you get to the end of it, and all the pieces are in the right place then you have solved the enigma of life.
