Sami Havia is a Finnish abstract expressionist artist who paints and on old cassette tapes. A temporal experience takes place in the paintings due to these polarized methods of execution, as the comic-like drawing creates tension with our traditional perception of fine art. Such juxtapositions are the focal points in his works. Using the cassette tape like basic medium of his art, he takes what would ordinarily be considered trash or items doomed for the recycled bin, and makes them desirable again.
